On August 19, the world observes World Humanitarian Day—a moment to honor aid workers who risk and often sacrifice their lives, and to reaffirm our commitment to communities caught in crisis.
This year’s theme, “Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities,” carries special urgency as conflicts, climate disasters, and forced displacement reach unprecedented levels.
From Gaza, where civilians and aid workers face unimaginable suffering, to Algeria’s long-standing humanitarian tradition of solidarity and support, this day reminds us that humanitarian action is not just about delivering aid—it is about justice, dignity, and partnership.
